MARCH: Flavor of the month: PSP or DSi?

Well, its time for this months standoff, and do we have some contenders here for you tonight folks! In this corner I bring to you the heavyweight champion, he's here to tell you how its done, Mr. DSi, give him a hand!

Next, we bring you someone who has some considerable wins and knockouts on his belt, the up-and-coming king of the ring, please welcome, Mr. PSP!

Now gentleman, I want a clean fight, and I don't wanna see any cheap shots.

Ok? Lets get ready to rumble!

Well, lets break down our fighters and see what they are bringing to the table tonight.

Alright, lets look at the new DSi and see what it has to show off. First of all the obvious part is that it features not one, but two 0.3 Megapixel cameras. I am confused as to why they choose such a low powered set of cameras, when a single 1.3 Megapixel would have seemed to make more sense.

Knowing Nintendo though, they probably have some amazing multi-camera, card scanning, face rendering, geo-tagging online chat room with a printer, up their sleeve. The system also will feature a slightly larger screen than previous incarnations, as well as some on board memory expandable by an SD slot. It will additionally feature expanded wifi capabilities and the ability to download classic and homebrew games, at a price.

In comparison to the previous incarnation of DS, you will be loosing the Game-boy advanced cartridge slot, but hopefully a decent library of download-able games will make up for this. The DSi's price will be around $170, which may make it unpractical for current DS owners to shell nearly $200 for what seems to be such a small upgrade. Whether Nintendo will make it worth the extra bucks, we will see in the future.

As for the PSP, you can find them new for $170 and used at Gamestop/EB for $140. While there is no "New" PSP to speak of, there is a $199 Hannah Montana Entertainment Pack, with a purple PSP, some HM Episodes, and a 2 Gig memory card. I guess Sony decided to go after a fresh demographic and get more 12 year old girls playing PSP. -_- How cute.

Our next section will focus on game line ups and previews between the two systems, STAY TUNED!!
