What is OnLive?

OnLive is the self proclaimed future of video games. Don't have the latest console hardware? Computer can't run anything more demanding than WoW? Fear not! OnLive is here bringing you the latest games streaming via almost any internet capable PC. "How could this be?", you say? Well according to the OnLive FAQ it is quite simple.

  • OnLive connects you to game servers through the Internet, instantly sending your controller actions upstream and the results back downstream at blinding fast speeds

Ok, Sounds great in theory, and seems to have some serious backing from some major publishers. Will it work? Well, let me pick my jaw up off the floor and take a look below.



The only thing I could think of, that may hold this system back, would be connection speed and controller delay issues. Again I was surprised to hear that it should be seamless at around 80 ms/ping.

Could this be the console killer? Only time will tell, and I will be keeping my eyes on any developments.
